It is a semi-evergreen shrub that partially sheds its leaves in autumn. The green leaves are oval. The white flowers are followed by glossy black, spherical fruits in midsummer. The shrub thrives in sunny and partially shaded locations. It tolerates polluted air well. The mature shrub is 2 to 5 meters high. The privet hedge is a good windbreak. The flowers of the plant attract bees and butterflies.
