The Japanese spirea ‘Dart’s Red’ is a deciduous shrub with a compact but low growth habit. The mature shrub reaches a height of 0,6 to 0,8 meters. It prefers a sunny to semi-sunny location and nutrient-rich, moist soil. It is hardy, tolerates subalpine climates well, but is also resistant to summer heat. The leaves are narrowly elliptical and slightly toothed at the edges. They are copper-red when they sprout and turn dark green in summer. This variety has an attractive appearance, as it turns into a lush flowering shrub in summer. The inflorescences are held just above the foliage and are a rich pink colour. The shrub flowers from June to August and attracts butterflies and bees.
