The conifer is mostly columnar and broader than Taxus baccata Fastigiata. It has upright branches and thick horizontal to slightly overhanging twigs that give the plant a dense and compact shape. It grows slowly and reaches a height of 3 to 5 meters when fully grown. Their light green needles with prominent central veins are linear, narrow and up to 2,5 cm long. They are soft to the touch. By pruning, the shrub can be brought into different shapes. The yew ‘Hicksii’ thrives in both moist and dry soil and is suitable for sunny and shady locations.
