Japanese willow is a fast-growing shrub with an interesting appearance. The young foliage is pink, like the colour of a flamingo, and later turns greenish-white. In autumn the foliage turns bright yellow. When the leaves fall, the twigs turn orange-brown. The flowers open in March and April and are catkin shaped. The shrub thrives in full sun to partial shade. Most shades of pink leaves will prevail in partial shade. It needs humid and well-drained soil. This willow is also suitable for decorating small gardens. The mature shrub is 1,5 to 2 meters high. After the end of winter, it must be pruned to ensure a dense growth.
